
MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) - Chairman of the Belarusian Central Election Commission Igor Karpenko commented on the gender composition of the Council of the Republic of the eighth convocation at a meeting of the Central Election Commission in Minsk on 9 April, BelTA has learned.
"As for gender representation, there are 18 women and 38 men in the new Council of the Republic (14 women and 42 men were elected in 2019). Traditionally, the Council of the Republic brings together the best representatives of all regions of the country, people who know life firsthand and who know how to solve problems," Igor Karpenko said.
Among the elected members, 31 people have state awards, 8 have an academic degree, an academic title.
