MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) – Poland’s and Lithuania’s attitudes to a group of children from Moldova is puzzling, BelTA learned from the spokesman of the State Border Committee of Belarus Anton Bychkovsky.

Anton Bychkovsky said: “A group of children from Moldova accompanied by heads of the Rhapsody choir studio left Poland and entered Belarus without any problems on 23 March. The documents all the participants had were fine and and they are valid for crossing the border. However, when they tried to leave Belarus on 27 March Polish authorities refused entry to the entire group. They cited insufficient documents for entering Poland as the reason. And this reason puzzles us.”

The State Border Committee of Belarus clarified that the Lithuanian border service refused entry to this group of kids at the Lithuanian border crossing Medininkai on 28 March by saying the trip is contrary to national interests of Lithuania. Although a representative of the Moldovan diplomatic mission was present at the site, the problem could not be resolved. In the morning on 29 March after waiting for hours for Lithuania’s decision the bus full of kids returned to Belarus. The Belarusian border service cleared the bus on a priority basis and helped establish contacts with local authorities and public organizations.
