Belarusian books to be promoted in Russia 

MOSCOW, 4 September (BelTA) – Belarusian books will be promoted more actively in Russian regions according to a cooperation agreement on book exchange signed by the Belarusian book retailer OAO Belkniga and the Saint Petersburg branch of the Union of Writers of Russia, the press service of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia told BelTA. 

The agreement follows up on the memorandum of cooperation between the writers’ unions of the two countries. The signing ceremony took place during a round table on the topic Fiction as a Path to Each Other, held on 4 September at the business and cultural complex of the Embassy as part of the 38th Moscow International Book Fair.

The round table was dedicated to the Belarusian Written Language Day. The participants discussed the interrelation and interaction of literatures, international literary communication and the exchange of spiritual values, problems of comparative study of national literatures, new joint projects, and prospects for cooperation between writers’ organizations. 

The event was attended by Chairman of the Union of Writers of Belarus Aleksandr Karlyukevich, Belkniga Director General Vladimir Matusevich, Executive Secretary of the Saint Petersburg branch of the Union of Writers of Russia Vitaly Fedorov, as well as heads of publishing houses and writers from both countries.
