MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) - Artists of the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus will perform in Managua, the capital of Nicaragua, on 22 May. The Rubén Darío National Theater will host a joint cultural project - a gala concert for Mother's Day (Mother's Day in Nicaragua is marked on 30 May0) of both Belarusian and Nicaraguan artists, BelTA learned from the Bolshoi.
The tour of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus to Nicaragua has been organized with the support of the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus and BelAZ company.
The creative team of the project is led by the general director of the theater, holder of the Francysk Skaryna Medal, Doctor of Art History, Professor Yekaterina Dulova. The team also includes principal conductor People's Artist of Bashkortostan Artem Makarov, principal director of the theater, holder of the Francysk Skaryna Medal Anna Motornaya, principal ballet master of the theater, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Igor Kolb.
The Bolshoi Theater noted that this is the second trip of the artists of the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus to Nicaragua. The first tour took place in July 2024. Then the joint project was dedicated to two events: the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders and the 45th anniversary of the Revolution in Nicaragua.
Like a year ago, Laureano Ortega, a Nicaraguan statesman and opera singer, a graduate of the Luigi Boccherini Institute and the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan, will take part in the concert.
The 22 May playbill will feature the most famous arias from the operas Rigoletto, Don Carlos, La Traviata by Verdi, Don Giovanni by Mozart, Tosca by Puccini, Porgy and Bess by George Gershwin, famous Neapolitan songs and other pieces. The audience will also be treated to an exquisite combination of classical ballet and modern choreography.
