MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) – Upon instructions of the president the State Secretariat of the Security Council has started a test of the Belarusian army’s combat readiness, representatives of the Defense Ministry told BelTA.
Personnel of an army unit will have to complete a complex of steps to prepare hardware and weapons for carrying out combat training missions, including loading material assets and going to a military training area. Later on the army units, which take part in the test, will have to set up positions in the designated area, camouflage, protect, and defend them in addition to performing qualification shooting using standard-issue weapons.
A number of strike drones, reconnaissance drones as well as Air Force units will be deployed to create an environment that resembles a combat situation taking into account the experience of modern military conflicts.
First Deputy State Secretary of the Security Council Igor Demidenko stressed: “The test will be comprehensive and will involve various units and assets. It is worth noting that close attention will be paid to modern forms and applications of army units. Those are matters of counterbattery fire, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, and protection from them. Apart from that, attention will be paid to the professional training of command personnel, who are capable of managing their units as they carry out combat training missions. Results of the test will be thoroughly analyzed and taken into account in the course of preparing the Armed Forces.”
The Defense Ministry pointed out that since military hardware has to be moved as part of the test, civilian transport may be temporarily restricted on public roads and terrain compartments.
