MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) – The Belarusian defense contractor OAO 140 Repair Plant now offers the armored personnel carrier (APC) Cayman in five modifications, BelTA learned from Vitaly Zabello, Head of the company's Marketing Department.

The basic chassis can be fitted with two kinds of machine guns, a grenade launcher, satellite communication options, and a remote control module. The five modifications have been developed for the upcoming international armaments and military technology expo MILEX 2017.

According to the source, the Cayman APC successfully went through preliminary trials in 2016. State acceptance trials will be the next step. They will begin in February.

The Cayman APC is designed for recon and diversion operations, for patrolling and escorting vehicle columns, for carrying out peacemaking and policing operations, and for operating in emergencies. As part of the preliminary trials the armored personnel carrier travelled for over 4,000km on public roads, in rough terrain, and on the so-called tank-fit roads. The vehicle floated for over five hours. The state acceptance trials are expected to take place in a number of exercise areas of the Belarusian army.
