MINSK, 14 July (BelTA) - Belarus is looking forward to response from Germany, the United States and Lithuania to the materials against German citizen Denis Hofmann, the owner of a destructive chat who recruited militants, planned acts of intimidation and brutal political murders in Belarus, the ONT TV channel reported with reference to the official message of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus has prepared a case file on the illegal, if not terrorist, activity of this German citizen and officially handed it over via diplomatic channels to Germany, the United States and Lithuania during face-to-face meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Despite the convincing facts and the damning evidence, there has been no official reaction from these countries," the report said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that such things are classified in one and the same way in any state. Therefore, Belarus is looking forward to the assistance of these countries in the investigation. Moreover, this is envisaged in the bilateral treaties on legal assistance, the multilateral obligations in the field of combating terrorism, including the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy adopted by the UN General Assembly.
"The General Assembly recalls that all states must cooperate fully in the fight against terrorism on the basis of mutual legal assistance and the principle ‘Either extradite or prosecute'," the ONT TV channel said.
