MINSK, 4 October (BelTA) – Belarus' Deputy Prime Minister, member of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Igor Petrishenko is set to take part in an online meeting of the EEC Council on 5 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the government.
The agenda includes 36 issues, including those related to technical regulations, application of navigation seals, international activities, public procurement and others.
At the initiative of the Belarusian side, the meeting participants will consider the issue of establishing a zero rate of import customs duty of the Eurasian Economic Union single customs tariff in respect to certain types of motor vehicles with an electric motor. The purpose of this measure is form a market of electric vehicles in Belarus and the EAEU as a basis for the development of electric vehicles. The decision on this issue will also contribute to the further development of charging infrastructure facilities, increasing the energy efficiency of transport in Belarus and in the EAEU countries.
There is also a proposal to amend the regulation on the unified procedure for veterinary control (supervision) at the EAEU customs border in order to increase the level of interaction between the EAEU authorized bodies by improving the exchange of information on issued veterinary certificates. This, in turn, will make it possible to reduce the cost of drawing up supporting documentation by switching to paperless technology.
It is also planned to consider the global climate agenda of the Eurasian Economic Union. This topic is relevant for the EAEU states due to the growing trend of strengthening the role of climate regulation in global trade policy.
The meeting participants also plan to approve the draft agreement on the application in the Eurasian Economic Union of navigation seals to track shipments and send it to the EAEU states for domestic procedures required for signing.
In order to ensure the freedom of movement of citizens in the context of the spread of a new coronavirus infection, it is planned to take a decision to improve the control of crossing the borders of the EAEU member states using digital technology (Traveling without COVID-19 app).
