MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) – Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova met with outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Belarus Nasirdjan Yusupov on 8 February, BelTA has learned.
“I would like to note with great satisfaction that the relations between Belarus and Uzbekistan are developing quite fruitfully. I am very pleased to note that our high-level and top-level relations have intensified during your work here. The good and trustworthy relations between our presidents certainly provide us with an opportunity for fruitful cooperation in all areas. It is important that we have opened Uzbekistan's embassy in our country. Trade and economic relations are developing, as well as cultural and educational ones. The first Belarus-Uzbekistan Forum of Regions has taken place and we hope this tradition will continue,” Natalya Kochanova said.
According to the speaker, the countries have established good inter-parliamentary ties. “A youth council has been set up under the Council of the Republic, and our young people were the first to launch cooperation with the youth of Uzbekistan. I believe it is a momentous event. With young people cooperating, we will have great prospects. I am confident that you will have great memories of our country and our people. I would like to wish you every success and express gratitude for such good, fruitful cooperation,” she said.
The ambassador said he was satisfied with the results of his work in Belarus. “Perhaps not all of the planned activities have been implemented but the main thing has been achieved. Our general figures testify to this fact. We have reached economic growth. The number of Belarusian enterprises in Uzbekistan and Uzbekistan ones here has risen considerably. Trade and investment have increased. The number of students from Uzbekistan studying here has increased significantly. For the first time, we were able to hold a forum of regions and the Days of Culture of Uzbekistan at a very high level. Many delegations from Belarus have visited Uzbekistan. Very good contacts have been developed between ministries, agencies and regions. Of course, the pandemic has made its adjustments. All in all, a very good foundation has been laid. I am convinced that all this will yield results in the coming period and by joining efforts both within the framework of the CIS and within the framework of bilateral relations we will achieve much more for our peoples. There is no doubt about it,” he stressed.
Nasirjan Yusupov said that he was proud to be the first ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belarus. “As for my personal impressions of Belarus and the Belarusian people, I spent my best years here. This country has become as native to me as Uzbekistan. I have got a second homeland here. There are wonderful, very friendly people here. I will never forget them. It is a great honor for me to represent my nation in such a wonderful country. I say this from the bottom of my heart. In the future I will make every effort to ensure that these relations will develop further. We need each other,” he said.
