
MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) – The Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus passed the bill to ratify the treaty on security guarantees within the Union State between Russia and Belarus at a sitting of the second session on 26 February, BelTA learned.
The treaty relies on the universally recognized approaches. This way the signatories show that they will strictly abide by the norms and principles of international law as they fulfill mutual security commitments.

The treaty is aimed at strengthening the security of the parties within the framework of the common defense space of the Union State. According to the document Belarus and Russia shall undertake the necessary measures in case of encroachments on the security of either party and the Union State as a whole.
