MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) - The Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation passed the bill "On Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Republic of India on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Customs Matters" at a sitting of the second session on 30 January, BelTA has learned.
The agreement defines the basic principles and forms of cooperation between the customs authority of Belarus and the customs authority of India, the procedure for mutual assistance for the proper application of customs legislation, the organization of the exchange of information necessary for the parties, cooperation in the suppression and investigation of customs offenses.
The measures envisaged in the document will make it possible to receive timely information necessary for the effective administration of customs duties, correct classification of goods moved in mutual trade, ensuring compliance with non-tariff regulation measures, and detecting illegal schemes aimed at tax and duty evasion.
