MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Belarus Ibrahim Salim Mohammed al-Musharrah, Ministry of Internal Affairs told BelTA.

Ivan Kubrakov thanked the ambassador for the warm welcome extended to the Belarusian delegation last October. The meeting resulted in the signing of two international agreements: an agreement on cooperation in security and counter-terrorism and a memorandum of understanding on mutual recognition and exchange of driver’s licenses between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the United Arab Emirates.

The parties discussed the current state of cooperation and further development of bilateral relations between the Interior Ministries of Belarus and the UAE in law enforcement.

At the invitation of the Dubai Police General Command two teams of special forces of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs (male and female) will participate in the special units competition to be held in the UAE from 30 January to 8 February,” Ivan Kubrakov noted. "I am confident that our officers will be strong competitors and perform to the top of their abilities in performing special tasks," Ivan Kubrakov said.

The minister also invited the ambassador to visit the regional units. "We are ready to actively develop mutually beneficial cooperation with the UAE in law enforcement," Ivan Kubrakov stated.
