MINSK, 30 August (BelTA) – The Gomel border service command remains deployed in big numbers along the Belarusian-Ukrainian border, BelTA learned from the Belarusian State Border Committee.
“Everyone should understand that we continue to keep our troops deployed at the state border,” First Deputy Head of the Gomel border service command Andrei Fedorov said.
He spoke about the set of undertaken measures, which involved boosting forces and means within the border area and intensifying their use in the protection of the state border. “Our border service command is working to improve and further increase the system of visual and technical surveillance on these sections of the state border,” the first deputy head said.
According to him, this system has proved efficient. “A large number of violators of the Belarusian law on the state border, including this year, have been apprehended using these technical means,” Andrei Fedorov said.
In his words, the use of all available technical means of border protection has been intensified. “These are border floating vehicles, and automotive equipment, technical means of state border protection, such as automated technical observation posts, and other means”, the first deputy head listed.
“The situation in the neighboring border area remains complicated. The personnel are provided with all necessary means of protection. Additional means of protection against fire damage have been erected both at the points of permanent deployment and in duty locations on the state border,” he added.
