GOMEL, 23 April (BelTA) – The Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTUB) has handed over 2,000 hazmat suits to hospitals in Gomel Oblast, BelTA learned from the press service of the Gomel regional association of trade unions.
Part of the suits was delivered to Gomel Oblast Tuberculosis Teaching Hospital. Chief Physician of the hospital Natalya Zhuravleva thanked the trade unions for their help. She noted that the hospital does not lack protective equipment, also thanks to the trade unions and the Main Healthcare Department of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee which has allocated additional funding for this purpose.
The batch of hazmat suits from the FTUB was divided into equal parts. On 23 April, they will be delivered to another seven hospitals of Gomel Oblast.
The FTUB is running a large-scale campaign aimed at helping polyclinics and hospitals, Zhanna Gatalskaya, the deputy head of the Gomel regional association of trade unions, said. “So far, 2,300 employees of enterprises and facilities of Gomel Oblast have received financial assistance from the trade unions. We have purchased Br343,000 worth of disinfectants and other protective means. We will carry on with these activities for as long as needed,” Zhanna Gatalskaya stressed.
Earlier, the trade unions donated more than 2,000 suits, antiseptics, and other protective means to healthcare facilities of the region. “The trade unions are monitoring the situation and try to meet the needs of people who are taking care of health of Gomel Oblast residents. We are providing catering for those who are working with COVID-19 patients round the clock,” the association noted.
