MINSK, 12 March (BelTA) - The educational project for high school students Restart a Heart will launch on 14 March, First Deputy Healthcare Minister Yelena Bogdan told the media, BelTA has learned.
The project will be implemented weekly on Saturdays (on the sixth school day) at training centers of secondary specialized and higher medical education institutions. It is planned that more than 20,000 high school students from different parts of Belarus will participate in the project.
Students will be taught basic first aid skills for conditions that pose a threat to human life and health, as well as how to perform basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
“This year we decided to go a little broader and practice not only cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but also first aid for injuries, fractures, and bleeding,” Yelena Bogdan said.

According to her, medical colleges, medical universities, and the National Clinical Medical Center are ready for the start of the campaign. Simulation equipment has been prepared. Tenth-graders will be taught by medical specialists, teachers, and student volunteers.
The healthcare system also pursues a second, equally important goal - career guidance, the first deputy healthcare minister said. By simulation training and solving situational problems, which will definitely be included, tenth-graders will be able to feel like medical workers providing medical assistance and saving people.

“We hope that young people will take the first step towards joining our strong, friendly medical community,” Yelena Bogdan said.
She added that the training program will last at least an hour and a half. If necessary, the training time will be extended.
The campaign will be held for the second time. It is organized on the initiative of the Belarusian Society for Simulation Training in Medicine with the support of the National Clinical Medical Center of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate, the Healthcare Ministry, and the Education Ministry.
