MINSK, 21 May (BelTA) - Belarusian Education Minister Andrei Ivanets held a meeting with Chinese Deputy Education Minister Xu Qingsen on 20 May to discuss cooperation in education, the press service of the Belarusian Education Ministry told BelTA.
Andrei Ivanets emphasized that Belarus is welcoming schoolchildren from China for recreation and recuperation holidays. They are set to be warmly received at the National Children's Educational and Recreation Center Zubrenok in August. The minister believes that this exchange could become an annual tradition.
The meeting also touched upon cooperation between government agencies and universities and humanitarian exchanges. It was noted that agreements reached during the 8th meeting of Belarus-China commission on education cooperation are currently being actively implemented.
China has expressed particular interest in expanding cooperation in higher education and invited Belarus to participate in the WorldSkills Conference and the WorldSkills Competition, which will be held in China in 2026.
"Vocational education development is a top priority in our country. The national professional skills contest ProfSkills Belarus 2025 will kick off in Minsk on 23 May. Attending the event will be more than 100 international participants from 10 countries, including SCO member states. We are particularly grateful that the People's Republic of China will send a team to participate. We look forward to their arrival and to next year when we will also be able to send a team of skilled professionals to China for the competition," Andrei Ivanets added.
