MINSK, 4 January (BelTA) - Amid the spread of COVID-19 pandemic it makes sense to focus on the development of domestic tourism. The matter was discussed at a meeting of the tourism department of the Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry, BelTA learned from the website of the National Tourism Agency.
“Efforts will be continued to develop agro-ecotourism, cultural and educational tourism and health tours. The new growth points will be the development of business tourism, innovative tours and green economy-based excursions, ecological tourist trails taking into account the natural landscape and cultural and historical features of the regions of Belarus,” the National Tourism Agency said.
Plans are in place to develop new tourist routes, including virtual ones, as well as cross-border tourist routes related to military-patriotic topics and historical and cultural heritage, environmental education.
There are also plans to develop modern infrastructure of the hospitality industry.
The meeting was held online featuring representatives of the Belarusian oblasts, Tsentrkurort, and Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus. The main issue on the agenda was the preliminary results of the Belarusian Hospitality Industry state program for 2016-2020.
