MINSK, 16 September (BelTA) — We are planning to expand the pool of international observers at the 2025 Belarus presidential election, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Igor Karpenko told the STV TV channel on 15 September, BelTA has learned.
"We are planning to expand the pool of international observers at the 2025 presidential election, including by inviting the central election bodies of the countries with which we cooperate within the framework of the Association of World Election Bodies. It is clear that we will not be able to invite all 120 countries but we are intent to expand the pool of observers beyond the electoral bodies of the CIS countries," Igor Karpenko said.
According to him, the CEC of Belarus is also regularly invited to observe elections in other countries. "I attended the referendum and the presidential election in Uzbekistan. We monitored the latest parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan and the presidential election in Russia. In terms of our cooperation with Russia we interact with the CEC and also with territorial election commissions, for example, of Leningrad Oblast. Within the framework of the Association of World Election Bodies we explore the experience of foreign countries," Igor Karpenko added.
