MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – Belarusian specialists will develop systems to combat viruses, Chairman of Belarus' State Science and Technology Committee Aleksandr Shumilin told reporters on 31 March prior to a session of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers, BelTA has learned.
“In the next five-year period we will focus on personalized medicine as part of the state-run innovation development program. One of its key elements is the development of systems to identify viruses, test people for them and treat infected patients. Our doctors are already working on it,” Aleksandr Shumilin noted.
He added that since the Soviet times Belarus has preserved the system of preventing and fighting epidemics. “At present we are exploring new fields of study and new technology in order to be better able to prevent and respond to such threats,” he said.
