Belarus to continue contributing to peace, stability in CSTO collective security regions

MINSK, 23 September (BelTA) – A Belarusian military delegation led by Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major-General Viktor Gulevich took part in a conference of the chiefs of general staffs of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states. The conference took place in the military training area Donguzsky, Orenburg Oblast, Russia where Viktor Gulevich observed the active phase of the army exercise Peaceful Mission 2021, the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

Opinions about the military political situation and about actions of international terrorist organizations in crisis regions of the world were exchanged during the conference. Viktor Gulevich noted that the exercise is an episode in the joint complex efforts to fight international terrorism. He stressed that Belarus will continue making its own contribution to maintaining peace and stability in collective security regions of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and is ready to expand interaction in this area with Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states.

Apart from that, Viktor Gulevich met with his Chinese counterpart. The sides discussed the current state of bilateral military cooperation and ways to advance the cooperation in the future.
