MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) – A survey on the role of regional media will be conducted in Belarus in 2019 at the request of Belarus' Information Ministry, First Deputy Information Minister Pavel Legky said as he attended the presentation of the anniversary book “Republic of Belarus in the Mirror of Sociology” in the Information and Analysis Center under the Belarus President Administration, BelTA has learned.
“The Information Ministry needs a clear idea of what people want from local media. Therefore, we have already ordered sociological studies this year which will allow us to understand how to move forward in the development of regional media,” Pavel Legky said.
Media marketing is the main problem in the Belarusian media industry today, he noted. “We need a thorough audience research and for that we need fresh numbers. After all, serious management decisions are made on the basis of such data,” the first deputy minister said.
The collection "The Republic of Belarus in the Mirror of Sociology" includes the results of nationwide sociological surveys conducted in 2017-2018. The digital version of the book will soon be uploaded to the official website of the Information and Analysis Center. Every year, the Information and Analysis Center under the Belarus President Administration conducts 60-80 public opinion polls, about 30 at the national level and 40 in the regions, to survey about 60,000 people.
