Belarus to chair CIS coordinating forensics council

MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) - Belarus will be presiding in the CIS coordinating forensics council within the next three years, CIS First Deputy Secretary General Leonid Anfimov told the media on the sidelines of the coordinating council, BelTA has learned.

“In accordance with the regulations, the coordinating council will meet at least once a year. Belarus, as an initiative party, will preside in the council for the next three years. The relevant decision was approved today,” Leonid Anfimov said.

The decision was also taken on the next meeting of the coordinating council in Kazakhstan. According to the CIS first deputy secretary general, it will be held in September or early October next year.

Speaking about the prospects of the coordinating council, Leonid Anfimov mentioned Belarus’ initiatives. “I think that the initiatives will largely be reflected in the long-term cooperation plan and work of the coordinating council up to 2027. These initiatives are concrete, and I think many items from these initiatives will become part of this long-term plan,” he said.

On 26 September Minsk played host to the first meeting of the CIS coordinating forensics council. The meeting was attended by representatives of the State Forensic Examination Commission of Belarus, the Justice Ministries of Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and the Forensic Expert Service under the Justice Ministry of Kyrgyzstan.
