Belarus to attend SCO border services operation in September

MINSK, 10 July (BelTA) – In September, Belarusian border guards will participate in a joint operation of the border services of the competent authorities of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), titled Solidarity 2025, BelTA learned from the State Border Committee of Belarus.

Under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic, the 11th meeting of the heads of border services of SCO member states was held in Bishkek on 10 July. Participating in it were delegations from India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, and the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure. The Belarusian delegation was led by Chairman of the State Border Committee Konstantin Molostov.

Participants of the meeting exchanged information on the current situation at the state borders of the SCO member states, as well as forecasts for its development. The results of previously conducted border operations were also discussed, with a particular focus on combating terrorism, extremism, and transnational crime. In his speech, Konstantin Molostov noted that in September-October 2024, Belarus’ border agency took part in a joint operation of the border services of the competent authorities of SCO member states for the first time. “The experience gained has been thoroughly incorporated into the planning of future measures to strengthen both regional and national security of the member states,” he stated.

In September of this year, the Belarusian border service will join the joint operation Solidarity 2025. Its preparation and implementation plan was reviewed and approved during the meeting. The participant also approved the 2026 work plan for the expert group and discussed proposals regarding the venue and timing of the next meeting of the heads of border services of SCO member states.
