
MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) – Belarusian diplomats took part in the Charity Festival of National Cuisine and Cultural Traditions among diplomatic missions accredited in the Republic of Uzbekistan, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Tashkent.
Representatives of the embassy and the Belarusian cultural center Svitanak actively participated in both the culinary and musical parts of the festival. During the opening ceremony, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Uzbekistan Aleksandr Ogorodnikov and his spouse joined in planting a Tree of Peace.
The Belarusian pavilion featured a wide variety of national dishes, including some prepared personally by Belarusian diplomats. Guests and jury members were also able to take part in a workshop on cooking draniki (potato pancakes).
Visitors were offered potato pyzy (dumplings), machanka (a traditional meat stew), nalistniki (thin pancakes) with cottage cheese, meat dishes, game sausages, poultry dishes, Belarusian kvass (fermented drink), birch sap, ice cream, candies, and confectionery from well-known Belarusian brands. The Belarusian dishes and sweets proved popular with festival guests.
