MINSK, 24 November (BelTA) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Vladimir Borovikov and staff of the diplomatic mission took part in the 13th International Food Festival in Hanoi, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Vietnam.
Belarus Pavilion featured traditional Belarusian dishes such as draniki, treats and cakes prepared by the staff of the Belarusian Embassy and their families and also souvenirs and products made by Belarusian enterprises. A highlight of the Belarusian exposition was a book of poems by Belarusian national poet Yanka Kupala published in Vietnam in Vietnamese for the first time.
The event was organized by the Service Department for Diplomatic Corps under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam. The guests of honor at the festival's opening ceremony were Mrs Ngo Phuong Ly, the spouse of the general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Mrs Le Nguyet Anh, the spouse of the minister of foreign affairs of Vietnam, and representatives of the government and the diplomatic corps.
The festival featured 128 pavilions with national dishes and souvenirs from more than 50 countries. The program included an introduction to the cuisine of Vietnam and other countries, cultural and artistic exchanges, and charity events.
