MINSK, 22 October (BelTA) – Inna Konoshonok, Head of the Main Department of Statistics on Living Standards and Household Surveys of Belarus' National Statistical Committee (Belstat), presented Belstat's achievements in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strengthening of gender equality in Belarus during the regional meeting titled "Reviewing 30 years of Beijing Commitments to Accelerate Gender Equality in the UNECE Region" organized by the UNECE and UN Women in Geneva on 22 October, BelTA learned from Belstat's press service.
Inna Konoshonok briefed the meeting on the effective policy pursued by Belstat to achieve the SDGs. Belstat runs an information Gender Statistics web portal, which serves as a powerful tool for analyzing gender equality and monitoring the achievement of gender-relevant indicators of the SDGs. Since its launch in 2021, the web portal has become a key tool for accessing up-to-date official statistical information covering 178 sex-disaggregated indicators.
"The data is systematized in eight sections, including health, education and employment, to provide a comprehensive view of the main trends in gender equality in the country. The portal provides open access to gender data and its use for evidence-based decision-making. The web portal not only helps to identify problems, but also facilitates effective programs and initiatives to address gender inequalities in various spheres of life, strengthening the positions of women and men in society. This is an important step towards equality and justice in Belarus," Inna Konoshonok emphasized.
