MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – Chairman of Belarus’ State Control Committee Vasily Gerasimov met with foreign colleagues on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). The agreements that have been reached are supposed to be implemented this year, the State Control Committee told BelTA.
During the working meeting with Deputy Chairwoman of the Accounts Chamber of Russia Galina Izotova the parties discussed planned joint events. The agencies maintain vigorous cooperation. The two agencies will organize a session of their boards in Minsk next week. Results of oversight over the spending of money belonging to the Union State of Belarus and Russia will be discussed. A special panel session will take place within the framework of the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in late June to discuss the development of interregional cooperation.
Vasily Gerasimov discussed avenues of cooperation with the head of the supreme audit agency of Saudi Arabia. The chairman of the State Control Committee and President of the General Court of Audit of Saudi Arabia Hussam bin Abdulmohsen Al-Anqari reached an agreement on signing a bilateral agreement. The leaders believe it will open a new page in relations between the agencies and will help establish steady contacts and a dialogue as well as to the exchange of the best practices in state oversight. Vasily Gerasimov invited top officials of Saudi Arabia’s supreme audit bodies to come to Belarus on a working visit.
The auditor general of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is also expected to visit Belarus this year. Before that happens, the agencies will have to update the existing agreement on cooperation. The chairman of the State Control Committee was also invited to visit Vietnam and get familiar with the work of Vietnam’s supreme audit body.
Agreements on advancing cooperation were also reached with the supreme audit body of Senegal.
On the whole, the advancement of bilateral relations with colleagues provides for sharing the best practices and organizing joint events, including educational ones. Vasily Gerasimov noted that the realization of the agreements reached during these meetings would bolster the potential of the supreme audit bodies.
On 7 June Vasily Gerasimov took part in a plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. President of Russia Vladimir Putin took part in it.
Apart from that, the chairman of the State Control Committee took part in the panel session on external audit as a tool for improving state administration on the sidelines of the forum the day before. The event was organized by the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation. Heads and representatives of supreme audit bodies of Russia, Belarus, Saudi Arabia, and government agencies of the Russian Federation acted as speakers and experts during the session.
