Belarus' State Border Committee: Only two EU checkpoints meet border crossing agreements

MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) - The number of vehicles waiting to enter the European Union remains within the projected figures, BelTA learned from the State Border Committee.

Over the past 24 hours, only two of the nine checkpoints on the border with the EU complied with the agreements on the passage of heavy vehicles. The smallest number of trucks – 291 out of 500 according to the throughput capacity – entered the European Union through the Lithuanian border crossing Medininkai (Kamenny Log on Belarus' side).

No delays were registered at the border with Ukraine.

As of 10.00, more than 480 trucks were queuing on the border between Belarus and the European Union.

More than 10 trucks were queuing at the Belarus-Latvia border at the Urbany checkpoint.

Over 60 heavy-duty trucks were waiting to cross the border with Lithuania at the Vidzy checkpoint, over 60 at Kamenny Log over 180 at Benyakoni, and over 70 at Privalka.

Over 80 trucks were waiting to cross the Belarus-Poland border at the Berestovitsa checkpoint, over 20 at Kozlovichi.

The State Border Committee recalled that on 9 November, Poland unilaterally stopped the registration of individuals and vehicles at the Kuznica Bialostocka checkpoint (Bruzgi from the Belarusian side). "We recommend that drivers choose alternative routes for crossing the state border," the committee added.
