Belarus, Spain to sign agreement on cooperation in tourism

MINSK, 14 July (BelTA) – Belarus and Spain are set to sign an agreement on cooperation in tourism, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France and concurrently to Spain Pavel Latushko told the media on 14 July, BelTA has learned.

“We plan to sign a number of agreements with Spain soon, among them a document on cooperation in tourism. We should learn from our Spanish partners and work together towards increasing the tourist flow from Spain to Belarus. We are ready to sign an agreement on cooperation between the Belarusian and Spanish justice ministries. We are also working out a set of other agreements,” Pavel Latushko said.

According to the ambassador, in December 2016 the Belarusian diplomatic mission was inaugurated in Madrid. “We plan to rent a place in Madrid to start giving visas to Spanish citizens. Today our visas can be obtained in Paris. Spanish citizens can also make a visa-free travel to Belarus. The Belarusian consul has already started working in Madrid. Belarusian citizens can ask him for assistance while Spanish can have a consultation about visa-free entry to Belarus,” the ambassador noted.

Pavel Latushko noted the positive momentum in Belarus-Spain relations. “Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei paid a working visit to Spain in June. The meetings held as part of the visit confirmed Spain's interest in promoting relations with Belarus. The sides signed important agreements, for instance, on industrial and economic cooperation. There are plans to set up a joint Belarusian-Spanish trade and economic commission in the near future thanks to this agreement. It will hold the first session by late 2017. All these things make up the legal framework of our relations in different fields,” Pavel Latushko added.

According to him, Belarus expects to host Spanish business representatives in the wake of the business forum held in Madrid on 13 June. The visit is meant to discuss economic projects with relevant Belarusian ministries and companies. “We are open to cooperation,” the ambassador summarized.
