MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) – Belarus has sent humanitarian aid to Orenburg Oblast and Kurgan Oblast of the Russian Federation, BelTA learned from the press service of the Emergencies Ministry.

The humanitarian cargo was shipped to Russia’s flood-affected regions on behalf of the head of state. The work to collect the cargo was based on the relevant resolution of the Council of Ministers.

"The cargo weighs about 56 tonnes and is 260 cubic meters big. It was sent by road to Orenburg Oblast and Kurgan Oblast this morning. It includes medicines, bedding, blankets, underwear and clothing, including children's clothes, shoes, essentials, canned food,” First Deputy Emergencies Minister Aleksandr Khudoleyev informed.

The cargo was collected in the shortest possible time and was loaded by cadets and employees of the Emergencies Ministry. Belarusian rescue workers will deliver it to the affected regions.

Belarus regularly provides humanitarian aid to countries affected by emergencies. Thus, since 1999, Belarus has provided international humanitarian assistance 84 times to 34 countries. Last year, humanitarian aid was provided five times.
