MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) - Belarus is a reliable friend and partner on whom Serbia can rely in the most important issues, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Serbia to Belarus Ilina Vukajlović said at an event held on 14 February to mark Statehood Day and Army Day of Serbia, BelTA has learned.
“Let me express my sincere gratitude for your presence at the event, which emphasizes how much Serbia is loved and respected in Belarus,” the diplomat addressed the guests. “The Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Belarus have a long tradition of close and fraternal relations, and last year we joyfully celebrated the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations. The Republic of Belarus is our reliable friend and partner, on whom we can rely in the most important issues, especially when it comes to support in preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia.”
Ilina Vukajlović stressed that the relations between the two countries “are characterized by fruitful cooperation at all levels, as well as by a charge of optimism and energy for further development of ties between our peoples.”
“Today we are honored to celebrate two holidays significant for our homeland and people – the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia and the Army Day of the Republic of Serbia,” she continued. “On this day we honor our country and pay tribute to those who laid the foundations of our statehood. It is a day of unity, when we remember our past and our ancestors who won freedom. We also face the present in order to plan the future in the best possible way.”
