MINSK, 14 July (BelTA) - On the instruction of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, the Security Council conducted a physical fitness test of senior officers of law enforcement agencies. State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich talked to the media about the results of the test, BelTA learned.
Aleksandr Volfovich noted that the president pays great attention to the training of servicemen of all structures of the military organization of the state, and primarily officers.
“The emphasis is placed on the quality of both operational and combat training, since the high-level performance of tasks depends on physical training, physical endurance of military personnel. Proceeding from this, the president asked the State Secretariat of the Security Council to organize and check physical fitness of the top brass of the national security system of our country: all generals and officers in the highest military positions,” he said.
All generals and colonels holding the general posts from 11 law enforcement agencies did the test. Despite the fact that the training was organized by the State Secretariat of the Security Council, the highest officers of this structure also took the test.
The test was organized with the help of specialists of the Sports Committee of the Armed Forces at the Suvorov Minsk Military School and the Central House of Officers. The servicemen performed endurance exercises, including 500m run or 100m swimming, and strength exercises such as pull-ups or complex strength exercises. The top-ranking officers were recognized fit following the test.
“All the officers showed excellent and good results. Not lower. 70% results were excellent and 30% were recognized as good. It is gratifying that all ministers, heads of all departments received only excellent assessments,” Aleksandr Volfovich said. “The physical fitness test was organized in accordance with the manual on physical training in the Armed Forces, and there are the most stringent standards in comparison with other structures of the military organization of the state. Nevertheless, our generals did well. What does that say? Suvorov’s motto ‘do as I do’ when the commander sets an example in everything is still relevant today.”
The results of the physical fitness test were reported to the head of state. The practice of checking the physical fitness of military personnel will be continued, the Security Council added.
