Belarus’ security chief: Internationalist soldiers know price of peace

MINSK, 15 February (BelTA) - Internationalist soldiers know the price of peace, security and sovereignty better than anyone else, State Secretary of the Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich said at a rally to mark the Internationalist Soldier Remembrance Day, BelTA has learned.

"Dear internationalist soldiers, on behalf of the State Secretariat of the Security Council and on my own behalf, I congratulate you on this memorable and significant date - the 35th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan. You are men of honor and duty. You, dear comrades, know the price of peace, security and sovereignty better than anyone else. 35 years ago, you fulfilled with honour the task assigned to you by your country - you went to a distant land, showed courage and heroism," Aleksandr Volfovich said.

Unfortunately, many did not return, but their memory lives on, Aleksandr Volfovich said. "I salute you for being in the ranks today, for educating the younger generation. You are examples of courage and heroism. I bow to you for that,” he noted.

Aleksandr Volfovich wished those present health, strength, energy and optimism in ensuring the security of our Motherland. The state secretary of the Security Council also conveyed the congratulatory message from the president of Belarus.
