Belarus-Russia Union State to institute capitals of culture

MOSCOW, 25 January (BelTA) – The Labor, Welfare and Healthcare Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State will convene in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod on 2 February, BelTA learned from the Parliamentary Assembly’s press service.
 
“The deputies will discuss interregional cooperation, with Nizhny Novgorod Oblast as an example, as well as proposals for the new initiative 'Capitals of Culture of the Union State' and proposals to arrange a gathering of senior citizens of the Union State,” the press service said.
 
The members of the Union State parliament will also review the results of the Union State budget spending in 2023, health treatment and rehabilitation of children from Belarus’ and Russia’s regions most affected by the Chernobyl disaster, health treatment for veterans of the Great Patriotic War and combat operations and proton therapy treatment of Belarusian and Russian citizens in 2023 and plans for 2024.
 
The deputies will also hear out a report about preparations for the Union State art festival of people with disabilities "Together we can do more" in 2024.
 
Taking part in the meeting will be representatives of the Standing Committee of the Union State, the ministries of culture, health, labor and social security of Belarus and Russia, the Federal Medical-Biological Agency, as well as the executive and legislative authorities of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
