Belarus, Russia to sign over 60 agreements in 2022

GRODNO, 1 July (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia are set to sign more than 60 Union State agreements in 2022, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Yuri Vorobyov told the media on 3 0June, BelTA has learned.

The ninth session of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia took place on day one of the 9th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia.

“About 65 Union State agreements are expected to be signed this year. The results of these agreements should be known to everyone so that we knew about them and could improve them. That is why we have decided to devote the next year to monitoring the implementation of these agreements. We will surely visit the regions of our states to see how these agreements are implemented. Our regional cooperation is gaining momentum,” said Yuri Vorobyov.

According to him, the conclusion of agreements between regions have had a positive impact on the economy. “The trade between regions has increased by 25-40%. We believe that this is a very high achievement. The forum shows certain results, and we are very happy about it. But we would like to move further,” Yuri Vorobyov said.

Chairman of the Standing Commission on Regional Policy and Local Self-Government of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Rusy noted that the discussion of 28 Union State programs was high on the agenda of the meeting. “Each program means the economy of our states, jobs, and the welfare of people. So people want to know what is the progress on this track. The parties also actively discussed the work on import substitution,” said Mikhail Rusy.

Specialists from various sectors are involved in the implementation of import substitution programs. “If we are talking about electronics, we have wonderful alternatives. One example is the Mercury electronic system. It was developed in three years. With such steps, we will move in the right direction,” Mikhail Rusy said.
