MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) – The comprehensive program of Russian-Belarusian cooperation in nuclear non-energy and non-nuclear projects will be supplemented with new areas, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said as he met with Director General of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom Alexei Likhachev on 26 November, BelTA has learned.
“I welcome the representative delegation of Rosatom State Corporation in Belarus. We keep a good schedule, meeting at the House of Government several times a year. This is a good tradition and a useful event. Last time we held talks in May. Since then a lot of work has been done on the agreed areas in accordance with the document, which defines new areas of cooperation, including quantum technologies, development of joint software, radiation medicine, digitalization, automotive industry and so on,” Roman Golovchenko said.
According to him, an important document will be signed today. These are the additions to the comprehensive program of Russian-Belarusian cooperation in nuclear non-energy and non-nuclear projects. “For my part, I would like to note that we are certainly interested in developing comprehensive business cooperation with the state corporation in all areas. Now, in my opinion, the main task is to intensify practical work. This should be the main topic of our today's meeting,” the prime minister said.
Alexei Likhachev thanked Roman Golovchenko for support and assistance. “Of course, the BelNPP project has been and remains a flagship project for us. The station is operating in a regular mode. It has generated almost 38 billion kWh. We took the most serious approach to the construction of the NPP and are now doing everything for its further operation. As a result of our joint big project, Belarusian specialists are working at nuclear construction sites in Russia and other countries - Bangladesh, Türkiye, Egypt, and Hungary. We cannot imagine these construction sites without our Belarusian partners. The competencies of Belarusian companies that took part in the Ostrovets project are in demand,” he emphasized.
Rosatom's cooperation with Belarus is expanding into other areas - nuclear non-energy and non-nuclear. “A comprehensive program was signed at the beginning of the year. In May we reported to you on the course of its implementation. A number of decisions were made, and today we have an opportunity to discuss the results. These results are certified products, concluded contracts, and launched projects. The expansion of these areas in addition to the comprehensive program has also been prepared and agreed with the government of Belarus,” the Rosatom CEO added.
