Belarus, Republika Srpska keen to enhance bilateral cooperation

MINSK, 19 March (BelTA) - Belarus and the Republic of Srpska are interested in intensifying bilateral cooperation, Chairwoman of the Republika Srpska Council of Peoples Srebrenka Golić told the media following the meeting with Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova, BelTA has learned.

"We are very happy to be your guests. Taking this opportunity, I would like to congratulate Aleksandr Grigorievich Lukashenko on his convincing victory in the election. We thank the Belarusian president for his support in maintaining peace on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the Republic of Srpska," Srebrenka Golić said.
This is her second visit to our country. "I have been to Belarus before and I am glad to be here again. I really like to be here. I am impressed by your country. Natalya Kochanova and I have been friends for 10 years. We met in the Russian Federation," Srebrenka Golić noted. "We have discussed a number of matters and areas of cooperation that could benefit both nations."

According to her, the visit of the president of the Republic of Srpska to Belarus in February 2024 gave fresh impetus to bilateral cooperation. "We have successfully imported your agricultural machinery: the BELARUS tractors," Srebrenka Golić emphasized.
Cooperation in healthcare is also actively developing. "We are proud of the agreement in healthcare that was previously signed. We has been established interaction with the Minsk Research Center for Surgery, Transplantation and Hematology. You should be proud of the level achieved in this area. You are doing incredible things. We are ready to further expand this cooperation," she added.

The parliamentary delegation headed by Chairwoman of the Republika Srpska Council of Peoples Srebrenka Golić is visiting Belarus on an official invitation from Natalya Kochanova, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic, the Belarusian upper house of parliament. This decision was taken after a meeting between Natalya Kochanova and Srebrenka Golić on the margins of the Fourth Eurasian Women's Forum (in St Petersburg in September 2024).

The Republic of Srpska is an entity within the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, occupying 49% of the country under the Dayton Agreement of 1995. The economy of Republika Srpska is primarily based on industry and agriculture. The most developed sectors include the energy complex, wood processing, metallurgy, natural resource extraction, and textile production. The Republic of Srpska also has significant tourism potential due to its rich natural resources and attractions. Mountain tourism, spa tourism, religious, hiking, and ecological tourism are well-developed. The mountains and thermal springs (spa resorts) stand out among the many attractions and sites visited by tourists.
