Belarus' Red Cross sends another batch of aid to refugees stranded on border with Poland

MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) – On 12 November the Belarusian Red Cross Society sent several vehicles with humanitarian aid to people stranded on the Belarusian-Polish border without food, water and shelter, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Red Cross Society.

The humanitarian aid was collected thanks to the efforts of the public, companies, various public associations.

“At the moment, six vehicles carrying humanitarian aid from the Belarusian Red Cross Society are on their way to the border. The aid includes blankets, warm clothes and shoes, food and hygiene products, water,” Secretary General of the Belarusian Red Cross Society Dmitry Shevtsov said.

According to him, a possibility of arranging temporary storage of aid in Grodno is under discussion. An interpreter was also sent to the border to clarify what else the refugees need. Regional and district branches of the Belarusian Red Cross Society are collecting essential supplies for the migrants, including blankets and thermal blankets, hats, mittens, scarves, yoga mats, raincoats, warm baby clothes and shoes, winter shoes. All items must be in a satisfactory condition. In addition, anyone can donate some money to the Red Cross to help the refugees.

The donations will be used to buy and deliver food and hygiene products, medicines, warm clothes and shoes to the migrants, pay for their temporary accommodation and meet other needs upon request.
