Belarus Red Cross: Food, other essentials for refugees are in good supply

GRODNO, 6 December (BelTA) – Belarus has created sufficient stocks of foodstuffs and other essentials to help the refugees stuck at the Belarus-Poland border, Secretary General of the Belarus Red Cross Dmitry Shevtsov told journalists on 6 December, BelTA has learned.

The refugees have been stranded on the border for 29 days already. They are living in a temporary accommodation facility set up at the logistics center near the Bruzgi checkpoint. The refugees are provided with everything they need.

“We kept working as usual during the weekend. We continue distributing hot breakfasts and lunches, food sets. Sufficient stocks of warm clothes and blankets, and other essentials have been created. Now we are studying refugees' needs in specific things and provide them with targeted assistance,” Dmitry Shevtsov said.

Help is also provided to refugees in healthcare facilities. According to the Grodno Oblast branch of the Belarus Red Cross, the organization is busy collecting hospital bag necessities for a pregnant refugee in the perinatal center.
