OSTROVETS, 23 August (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to share its experience relating to the nuclear energy industry with partners. Working examples of international cooperation in the sphere of nuclear energy industry were mentioned by Director General of the state enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant Sergei Bobovich while talking to reporters after representatives of Kazakhstan’s mass media and expert community visited the Belarusian nuclear power plant, BelTA has learned.

The nuclear power plant with two VVER-1200 reactors with the total output capacity of 2,400MW has been built according to the Russian design AES-2006. It is an evolutionary nuclear power plant design with third-generation water-moderated reactors. Such designs boast improved technical and economic parameters. A unique combination of active and passive safeguards is their key feature.

“The construction of the nuclear power plant gave a powerful development boost to the region. It actually revived it,” Sergei Bobovich noted. “True professionals with a colossal potential work here. Their attitude to work is exclusively positive.”

The nuclear power plant is open to visitors. School students, worker collectives, and tourists regularly come here for excursions. Accessibility and absolute transparency are the operational principles that enhance the nuclear power plant’s prestige.

By the way, the operating enterprise follows these principles not only in communication with visitors but also with partners. The Belarusian nuclear power plant’s experience is interesting for many abroad. Sergei Bobovich said that Rosatom specialists are now building nuclear power plants in Türkiye, Egypt, and Hungary using designs that are practically identical to that of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. Belarus’ cooperation with Chinese partners in the sphere of nuclear energy has reached new heights. “We are as open as possible to everyone,” the Belarusian nuclear power plant director general assured the Kazakh reporters.
