Belarus ready to set up research commercialization companies in Uzbekistan

MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) – Belarus can set up enterprises in Uzbekistan to commercialize research outcomes, Rector of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR) Vadim Bogush said at a roundtable “Uzbekistan and Belarus, a time-tested partnership” in BelTA’s press center.

“We are ready to share our expertise and knowledge in the commercialization of research outcomes of scientific institutions and universities (we have experience in creating university technology parks, in developing products). We can go as far as setting up joint subsidiaries in Uzbekistan that could commercialize research outcomes of Belarusian and Uzbek scientists and promote them in the markets of third countries,” said Vadim Bogush.

During the second edition of the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan that was held in Tashkent in February 2024, cooperation between higher education institutions of the two countries was discussed. Just a few years ago several dozen citizens of Uzbekistan studied in Belarus, while now about 5,000 students study at joint faculties. The two countries are working to expand educational partnerships and make the most of the opportunities offered by Belarusian universities.

Yet, education is just one of the areas of cooperation. The two countries are ready to scale up interaction in youth policy. “We are confident about the future, as we know that our young people can freely communicate and build friendly relationships,” noted the BSUIR rector.
