MINSK, 30 November (BelTA) – Belarus is ready for a dialogue with NATO member states for the sake of ensuring security in the Eastern Europe region. Chief of the International Military Cooperation Department, Aide for International Military Cooperation to the Belarusian Defense Minister Valery Revenko made the relevant statement on the air of the Belarusian Defense Ministry’s TV channel VoyenTV, BelTA has learned.

Valery Revenko stressed that Belarus’ mutual relations with countries of the West, with NATO member states are exceedingly problematic. “Due to the desire of the West to subjugate the Republic of Belarus to its interests, to its narratives, to its visions of security in the Eastern Europe region. Then the West decided to isolate the Republic of Belarus, causing it certain economic, political, and moral damage. In other words, a complex of steps has been implemented to subjugate the Republic of Belarus to its interests,” the official stated.

“Naturally, we disagree with that. We have our own policy, including the good neighborhood policy. A policy designed to ensure security in the Eastern Europe region among other things. It struck a discordant note with views of the West. And the entire situation has left an impression on our mutual relations with countries of the West, with countries of the European Union, including with NATO member states,” Valery Revenko pointed out.
“Nevertheless, we continue contacts with Western countries. We have accredited a number of NATO member states in the Republic of Belarus. Ten states as of today. We are ready to present the position of the Republic of Belarus before them. We are ready to hear their position and come to some consensus. Once again for the sake of ensuring security in our region,” the Belarusian defense minister’s aide stated.
