Belarus ratifies protocol with Russia to prolong BelNPP equipment warranty period

MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) - Belarus has ratified the protocol on amendments to the intergovernmental agreement with the Russian Federation on cooperation in the construction of the nuclear power plant of 15 March 2011, signed in Minsk on 2 November 2023. Corresponding law No. 2-Z of 21 May 2024 was published on the National Legal Internet Portal, BelTA has learned.

“The Council of Ministers of Belarus has been instructed to take measures necessary to bring the legislation in line with the provisions of the protocol, specified in Article 1 of this law within six months,” the law reads.

According to the protocol, the two-year warranty period of equipment operation, established by the agreement, can be extended for a longer period. A longer warranty period may be set for individual equipment. In addition, the agreement has a provision that the procedure of nuclear fuel price formation and the terms of its supply are agreed upon by the Russian and Belarusian competent authorities.
