MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) – The Office of Belarus' Prosecutor General is aware of more than 400 SS troops, who are still alive, BelTA learned from Prosecutor General of Belarus Andrei Shved after the official met with his Russian counterpart Igor Krasnov in Minsk on 28 October.
Andrei Shved said: “Today we are talking about more than 400 live SS troops. Those are primarily SS units, which murdered people in Belarus during the Great Patriotic War. The information is indisputable. I want to repeat it once again: they are alive and must be punished.”
In his words, Russian colleagues shared information about the location of some of the live Nazis. “Thanks to them we received this information, verified it, and made sure that indeed these evildoers still live. We want law enforcement agencies of at least 17 countries to help us punish these people for the crimes they've committed,” the prosecutor general said.
More results will be revealed soon as a result of work with archive documents, Andrei Shved added. A considerable amount of information relating to the documenting of criminal actions, including regarding the live Nazis, is stored in Russian archives. New concrete and tangible evidence will be acquired “to present the evidence to these evildoers in addition to the evidence we are collecting in Belarus as part of the relevant criminal investigation,” the prosecutor general added.
The investigation of the criminal case into the genocide of the Belarusian people, joint measures with the Russian side, and the relevant actions were discussed during a meeting with the Belarus president on 28 October. Andrei Shved said: “The head of state was informed that we are studying the experience of Russian colleagues. In turn, they take into account the results we get in Belarus' territory.”
