Belarus president's aide meets with families evacuated from Gaza

GRODNO, 16 January (BelTA) – Belarus President's Aide – Inspector for Grodno Oblast Yuri Karayev, Chairman of the State Control Committee for Grodno Oblast Anatoly Dorozhko met with the families evacuated from the Gaza Strip in Volkovysk, BelTA learned.

Both families thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for helping them evacuate from Gaza, on the instruction of the Belarusian president. "The situation is dangerous there. It is almost impossible to get out of there now," they said. “That's why many families have to stay and survive in these terrible conditions.”

They came to Volkovysk to stay with the parents of their spouses. From day one, the local authorities have been taking care of the families. Red Cross, Vitebsk regional organization the Belarusian Women's Union (BWU) and other public associations provided food packages, local store certificates, and other essential.

The families have been able to recover from the endured hardships and have started to think about the future - their own and their children's (each family has three of them). They came to meet with Yuri Karayev and Anatoly Dorozhko to discuss the issues regarding employment and the possibility for their children to continue education.

"What is most important is that we saved the people. On the instruction of the president, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made great efforts to help them evacuate to Belarus," Yuri Karayev said. “Things are starting to look better. Their initial domestic issues have been resolved. They want to start their social lives here. The families want to work, earn money, send their children to school and ensure a good future for them. There is a language barrier for the time being. We will be looking for options for the children to continue their studies. After they receive residence permits, with the documents already sent to the appropriate authorities, the fathers, both doctors with an extensive work experience back home, will be able to find jobs" he said.

As Yuri Karayev emphasized, the Belarusian people are very compassionate, willing to help those in need. Yuri Karayev and Anatoly Dorozhko gave the families gifts from the Presidential Sports Club and Governor of Grodno Oblast Vladimir Karanik.

"The issues of these families will be addressed," Yuri Karayev assured. “Both the authorities and also ordinary people of Belarus always empathize with those who need help, and always extend a helping hand," he said.
