
MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – Aleksandr Pytalev, Counselor of the Belarus Permanent Mission to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, held a briefing for the scholarship recipients of the UN disarmament education program as Coordinator of the Conference on Disarmament Subsidiary Body 5, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Permanent Mission to Geneva.
The diplomat informed the audience about Belarus' approaches to a number of important issues on the agenda of the conference, discussions held within the framework of the subsidiary body on the topics of new types and systems of weapons of mass destruction, radiological weapons, transparency and a comprehensive disarmament program, and shared his experience of negotiating draft disarmament documents.
The event included an open exchange of views on the state of disarmament and international security and progress in the work of various multilateral bodies, including the Conference on Disarmament.
