Belarus’ PM suggests building single data market in EAEU

ALMATY, 31 January (BelTA) – Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko suggested building a single data market in the EAEU as he spoke at the plenary session of the forum “Digital Almaty 2025. Industrial Al: Technologies for a New Era” on 31 January, BelTA has learned.

Roman Golovchenko emphasized the importance and value of such a concept as data. “One of the areas of our further interaction should be the construction of a single Eurasian data market and, accordingly, all-Eurasian data spaces for the key areas of the four freedoms. It is necessary to set clear benchmarks for joining efforts,” the Belarusian prime minister said.

In his words, the introduction of digital technologies and innovations should take place in all EAEU member states on the basis of common principles and approaches. The main thing is to ensure fair and safe access to standardized and unified data sets.

“Digital and technological sovereignty is important for every country today. We all understand, however, that it is practically impossible to achieve this sovereignty within one country. For the EAEU, the priority is not the development of each state separately, but close cooperation, complementarity and knowledge sharing. That is why mutually beneficial cooperation and development of the EAEU common internal market is one of the main drivers behind the progress of our countries,” Roman Golovchenko added.

According to Roman Golovchenko, cooperation between the EAEU countries is a strategic opportunity to inspire the world with their example of mutual respect and support. Harmonization of data circulation, reduction of digital inequality, development an analogue of the international artificial intelligence alliance, scientific school and educational environment for training highly qualified personnel can become the basis for cooperation in the medium term.

“Let us move forward, creating a new era where innovation and the wellbeing of our nations will develop hand in hand, and where every digital solution will be a step into a better tomorrow,” the prime minister said.

“Digital Almaty 2025. Industrial Al: Technologies for a New Era” is the leading forum in Central Asia, where government officials, leading experts and entrepreneurs discuss the key challenges and opportunities of digital transformation.
