Belarus' PM opens new building complex of Minsk State Art College

MINSK, 2 September (BelTA) – Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko held an opening ceremony of a new building complex with a hall of residence of Minsk State Art College named after Aleksei Glebov on 2 September, BelTA has learned.
During the ceremony Roman Golovchenko congratulated the students on the beginning of the new academic year. The prime minister told the students: "We are starting a new academic year. I sincerely congratulate you on this. Almost two million school students and university students are celebrating this holiday together with you all over the country, including, certainly, first-graders, who will sit at their desks for the first time this year. We have 105,000 first-graders. There are also a lot of first-year students. More than 100,000 students have come to colleges and universities for the first time.”
The new college building was opened for the college students. "Spacious rooms will be filled with your voices, your smiles, and, certainly, the atmosphere of creativity and inspiration, which you create for yourselves," the prime minister emphasized.
He pointed out that the state does a lot for education. "Only for the last few years more than 60 new schools and kindergartens have been built. Today, five more schools and three kindergartens for 5,500 students will open. A new hall of residence of Belarusian State University of Physical Culture is put into operation today. By the end of the year Belarusian National Technical University will get a new hall of residence. Well, cultural sector receives a wonderful gift – we are opening a whole building complex with a hall of residence of Minsk State Art College named after Glebov. It is built on the same place where it was since 1947. So, the glorious history of the college will be continued," Roman Golovchenko remarked.
Over Br37 million of budgetary funds was allocated for the complex's construction. According to the prime minister, it was a challenging project with a difficult history. "Nevertheless, we found an opportunity and promptly completed this most important project for our culture. Because by investing in culture and education, we, certainly, invest in the future of our country. This is very important," he stressed.
The building features bright classrooms, workshops with modern equipment, sports and assembly halls and a comfortable hall of residence. "I hope that all this will motivate you to achieve high academic results. Your college is one of the landmark educational institutions for our country. Many creative people, who made our country famous, studied in this college. I believe that you will continue these glorious traditions. Do not be afraid to set ambitious goals. No one will limit you in your creativity. Be true to yourself and your profession. The world is open for you, and thanks to your talents you will be able to conquer it. I believe in it very much," Roman Golovchenko said.


The prime minister presented the college administration with a certificate for a comfortable minivan MAZ 281040.
Moreover, Roman Golovchenko got acquainted with the interior and functionality of the new buildings. Thus, the educational building houses classrooms, workshops, offices for professors, catering facilities, a checkroom, sports and assembly halls. Students and professors will be able to play volleyball, handball, and basketball in the sports hall. There will be a room for table tennis. The assembly hall can seat 120-130 people.
