Belarus’ PM arrives in Almaty for Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting

MINSK, 1 February (BelTA) – Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko has arrived in Almaty, Kazakhstan on a working visit, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian head of government departed from Russia’s Astrakhan, where he held talks with Astrakhan Oblast Governor Igor Babushkin and discussed prospects for cooperation. The program of the working trip to Russia also included visits to the enterprises Dyuna-AST, BT SVAP, Geksa-Lotos.

In Almaty, Roman Golovchenko is expected to take part in a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council. The Belarusian head of government is also set to visit the Digital Almaty 2024 forum.

The agenda of the Intergovernmental Council meeting includes the macroeconomic situation in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union and proposals to ensure sustainable economic development, the current state and prospects for the development of the EAEU integrated information system, the implementation of the roadmap to create favorable conditions for the development of electronic commerce in the union, and amendments to the list of priority integration infrastructure projects in transport. Among other issues is the implementation of a joint project of accelerated rail and multimodal transportation of agricultural products and food Eurasian Agroexpress.

The central theme of the Digital Almaty 2024 forum will be “Industry X: Digital Evolution of the Future”. This year's forum will feature an extensive business program that will cover the topics of digital transformation in industry and innovative solutions in the areas of GovTech, Industry 4.0, ESG, Smart City, and others.
