Belarus’ PM attends Sandinista Revolution anniversary celebrations in Nicaragua

MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) – Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko took part in the celebrations marking the 45th anniversary of the triumph of the Sandinista Revolution in Nicaragua, BelTA has learned.

Roman Golovchenko addressed the participants of the ceremony and congratulated them on the significant date. “I would like to convey to you the warmest and most sincere congratulations on the occasion of the triumph of the Sandinista Revolution from Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and the entire Belarusian people. These days you are celebrating the 45th anniversary of the victory of the revolution. A few weeks ago, Belarus celebrated the 80th anniversary of the liberation from the Nazi invaders. Although we are on different continents, we know well the words that unite us - victory, freedom, independence. Stay loyal to the Sandinista Revolution ideals which focus on people and their wellbeing. The same ideals are at the heart of our country's politics. Viva Nicaragua!” the Belarusian prime minister said.

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega noted in his speech that the United States of America came to the country for one purpose only - to plunder it and appropriate local wealth. The Soviet Union, on the contrary, lent a helping hand and assisted the state in every possible way. In particular, help was provided in agriculture and the country got Belarus tractors. They were delivered to the country in Soviet times, but the equipment is still used in Nicaraguan fields. The head of Nicaragua emphasized that the tractors were very good.

Earlier, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko paid an official visit to Venezuela and Cuba. Work on cooperation with the faraway countries continues in Nicaragua. According to the Belarusian head of government, the main goal is to lay a solid foundation for cooperation with these countries.
